The HCLS AI Factory is a small, stubborn attempt to move that wall. It takes a patient's own biology — their DNA — and compresses the distance to an understanding a clinician can act on: from raw reads toward a shortlist of candidate therapies in hours instead of months. It runs on one open box anyone can buy, fork, and improve, and it is free — Apache-2.0, commercial use welcome — because the fastest way to help the next child is to let anyone, anywhere, run the tools and make them better.
It does not diagnose. It does not prescribe. It supports a qualified clinician — makes the evidence legible and fast, so the human who carries the responsibility can carry it better. Where the work points toward cures still on the bench — gene therapy for conditions like tuberous sclerosis — we say preclinical, plainly, because false hope is its own kind of harm. We would rather promise less and mean all of it.

For that child there is a real, approved medicine today, and an open bench for what comes next. That is the whole shape of the hope here: something true now, and a door held open for later.
