Mission¶
No one should wait years for a disease we could have understood in a day.
That sentence is the whole reason this project exists, and it is the test every decision here has to pass. When a technical choice, a design flourish, or a marketing line conflicts with the mission — or with telling the truth about what is and isn't real yet — the mission wins.
Why a factory¶
For too many families, the hard part was never that the answer was unknowable — it was that it arrived too late, cost too much, or lived behind a wall. The HCLS AI Factory is an attempt to compress the distance between a patient's biology and an understanding a clinician can act on: from raw DNA toward a shortlist of therapeutic candidates in hours instead of months, on one open box anyone can run, bursting heavier work to remote GPUs only when it needs to.
It is open-source under Apache-2.0 — free to use, free to build on, commercial use welcome — because the fastest way to help the next child is to let anyone, anywhere, run and improve the tools.
Held to the truth¶
This is a bench, not a cure. It supports a qualified clinician; it does not diagnose, prescribe, or treat. Where the work points toward gene therapies, those are preclinical research — the promise of a direction, not a treatment available today. Everything the site claims is rendered from the code, so what you read is what actually exists.
We would rather promise less and mean all of it. The honest version of this project is the only version worth building — and the only one that earns the trust of the clinicians, scientists, and families it is for.
The first child¶
The flagship program is Tuberous Sclerosis Complex — a multi-system condition that touches brain, kidney, heart, skin, and lungs, and a clean gene-to-drug story. It is where the whole factory converges on one patient, in one governed afternoon: a real, approved therapy today, and an open bench for what comes next. Told plainly, without montage — because a quiet true sentence about a child is worth more than any spectacle, and honesty here is not just ethics, it is the point.
